Santa Eulàlia Festival

The Festes de Santa Eulàlia, Barcelona's main winter celebrations, are designed for the whole family. During these magical days, homage is paid to the brave Laia, the little girl who rose up to defend her ideals. Laia has become a symbol for the city, representing solidarity, the defence of justice and the commitment of young people. Saint Eulalia and Our Lady of Mercy are the co-patron saints of Barcelona. To commemorate these festivities, numerous activities are organised for the whole family. Don't miss the giants, the parades, the ‘correfocs’, the performances of the “castellers”, the sardanes, the meeting of the ‘puntaires’ and the city's musical bands that will perform along different routes, as well as other activities for young and old alike.

The major events

  • The Protocols of the Eagle. Friday 7, at 8pm. Plaça Sant Jaume.

  • Correfoc de Santa Eulàlia. Saturday 8, at 8pm. Plaça Reial.

  • Trobada de Gegants (Meeting of Giants). Sunday 9, at 10. Plaça de la Catedral.

  • Castellers (human towers). Sunday 9, at 11:30am. Plaça Sant Jaume.

  • Ceremony of the Pennant of Santa Eulàlia. Wednesday 12, at 10:15am. Plaça Sant Jaume.

On the 12th, the feast of Santa Eulàlia, several events will take place, such as the display on the balcony of the Town Hall of the Penó de Santa Eulàlia (a reproduction of the old flag of the city), a sardana dance and a meeting of giants.

On the 7th, 8th, 9th and 12th of February there will be a varied programme aimed at adults and children to commemorate this festivity.
