PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN BARCELONA

INTEGRATED PRICING SYSTEM

This network has a metropolitan fare system that integrates the different means of public transport, so that you can combine up to four types of transport in a single journey, paying at the start of the journey.

If you regularly move around the city and its surroundings, it is advisable to use an integrated public transport ticket.

The price of public transport is based on zones, so the further you go out of the city, the higher the fare will be.

TYPES OF TICKETS

Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) offers different types of tickets, which are adapted to different needs: simple bitllets, transferable five-journey tickets, individual tickets valid for different periods of time or special tickets for students, families and large people.

Children between the ages of 4 and 16 can use public transport in Barcelona free of charge and unlimited if they apply for the T-16 card

Enjoy unlimited travel on public transport for 2 days (48h), 3 days (72h), 4 days (96h) or 5 days (120h).

PRACTICAL TIPS

Using public transport in Barcelona is an efficient and sustainable way of getting around the city. Here are some tips: first, familiarise yourself with the different options, such as metro, buses and trams, and consult the network map to plan your journeys. Make sure you have a T-Casual or T-10 card, which offer multiple journeys at reduced prices. Always keep your belongings safe and pay attention to your surroundings, especially during rush hour. If you travel on the metro, give up your seat for older people or those with reduced mobility. Respect rules of behaviour, such as not eating or talking loudly. Finally, download mobile apps that help you check timetables and routes in real time. Enjoy your trip around Barcelona!
